One of the most glorious truths of the resurrection is that it secures not only our salvation from sin’s penalty, but also our victory over sin’s power. Through the death of Jesus, the grip of sin was broken; through His resurrection, we are empowered to walk in newness of life. Romans 6:9–11 proclaims, “Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him… Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
We were not simply saved to escape hell—we were raised to live a new life. The empty tomb declares that sin no longer owns us. We are no longer bound by its chains or defined by our past. Our old man was crucified with Christ, and through His resurrection, we now have divine power to walk in freedom, holiness, and victory. The resurrection doesn't just promise us a future—it transforms our present.
But how do we live in this victory daily? By abiding in Christ. Victory over sin isn’t found in trying harder but in yielding more fully. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in us through the Holy Spirit. That power strengthens us when we’re tempted, restores us when we fall, and compels us to pursue righteousness. Romans 8:37 reminds us, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
Today, don’t accept defeat. Don’t settle for a life of spiritual ups and downs. Christ has risen, and so have you. Walk in that victory. Speak the truth of it over your life. When temptation whispers, point to the empty tomb. Sin may knock, but it no longer has the keys. Christ holds those now—and He’s given you everything you need to overcome.
