The gospel is the most urgent message in the world. While many things in life seem pressing—career, finances, personal goals—nothing is more critical than the eternal destiny of souls. Every day, thousands of people around the world step into eternity, many without ever having heard the name of Jesus. This sobering reality should move us to action. Jesus Himself emphasized the limited time we have to do God’s work in John 9:4: “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” There will come a day when the opportunity to share the gospel will be gone—whether because of personal circumstances, closed doors, or ultimately, Christ’s return. Now is the time to reach the lost.

The weight of eternity should shake us from complacency. It’s easy to get caught up in the routine of life, assuming there will always be another opportunity to share the gospel. Yet, Scripture reminds us of the desperate need for people to hear the truth. Romans 10:14-15 poses a series of convicting questions: “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent?” The lost cannot believe in Christ if they have never heard about Him. The responsibility of sharing the gospel does not rest solely on missionaries or pastors—it is the calling of every believer. Whether by personal evangelism, sending missionaries, or financially supporting missions, we must take action.

Understanding the urgency of the gospel should ignite a fire within us. Hell is real, and eternity is irreversible. Jesus described the fate of the lost in Luke 16:23, saying of the rich man, “And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments.” These are not just words on a page—they are a reality for countless souls who die without Christ. Our love for God and for people should compel us to boldly share the message of salvation. Proverbs 24:11 exhorts us, “If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain; If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it?” We cannot turn a blind eye to the lost around us.

Today, ask God to renew your sense of urgency for the gospel. Let it motivate you to share Christ boldly, to seize every opportunity to witness, and to invest in the work of missions with passion and purpose. If you have been hesitant to speak up, pray for courage and clarity. If you have grown complacent, ask God to stir your heart again. Time is short, and the task is great. May we not waste a single moment but instead dedicate ourselves to the most important mission—reaching the world for Christ while there is still time.
