Missions is a journey of faith, whether it involves sharing the gospel with a neighbor or leaving everything behind to serve on the other side of the world. Every act of evangelism, every moment of obedience, and every step toward fulfilling the Great Commission requires trust in God. Hebrews 11:6 reminds us, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Faith in missions is not about having all the answers or knowing the outcome in advance—it is about believing that God is at work, even when we cannot see the results. It is trusting that He will use our willingness, our words, and our efforts to accomplish His divine purposes.
Faith in missions means stepping out in obedience, even when the path is uncertain. Many believers hesitate to share the gospel because they feel unqualified, fearful, or unsure of how the message will be received. Yet, God does not call us to rely on our own abilities—He calls us to trust in Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Faith requires action. It is saying “yes” to God before we see the full picture, knowing that He will equip us, strengthen us, and guide us as we go. Missionaries, soul-winners, and faithful witnesses all experience the reality that when we step out in faith, God meets us there.
One of the greatest testimonies of missions is God’s faithfulness to provide. Those who have surrendered their lives to reach the lost have countless stories of divine appointments, unexpected provisions, and miraculous interventions. Whether it is financial support arriving just in time, a door opening in a closed country, or a hardened heart softening to the gospel, God continually proves that He is in control. Philippians 4:19 assures us, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Faith in missions is not just about believing in the work—it is about believing in the God who goes before us, prepares the way, and accomplishes what we never could on our own.
This week, pray for greater faith as you seek to share the gospel. Ask God to remove fear and doubt and replace them with boldness and trust. Recognize that your efforts—no matter how small—are not in vain. God is the one who brings the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6), and He will use your faithfulness in ways beyond what you can imagine. Missions is not about our ability—it is about our willingness to trust the One who is able. Will you take a step of faith today?
