Testimonies are one of the most powerful tools in missions and evangelism. While theological arguments and deep doctrinal truths are important, nothing speaks more clearly to the heart than a transformed life. Revelation 12:11 declares, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.” Our personal stories of salvation and transformation carry weight because they are living proof of God’s redeeming power. A testimony is not just about recounting the past—it is about showing what Christ has done and how He continues to work in our lives. When we share our testimony, we are giving evidence of the gospel’s life-changing effect, making it real and relatable for those who hear it.
A powerful example of this is found in John 4, in the story of the Samaritan woman at the well. She came to Jesus as an outcast, burdened by sin and shame. Yet, after a single encounter with the Savior, she was transformed. John 4:39 says, “And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.” Her testimony led others to believe in Christ—not because she was a theologian or a preacher, but because she simply told what Jesus had done for her. This reminds us that we don’t need to have all the answers to be effective witnesses; we just need to be willing to share our personal experience of salvation and how Christ has changed our lives.
Many believers hesitate to share their testimony, fearing they may not have a dramatic story or that their past mistakes disqualify them. But every testimony is significant. Whether you were saved from a life of deep sin or grew up in a Christian home and gradually came to faith, your story matters. The power is not in how extreme your past was, but in the grace of God that saved you. 2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Sharing your testimony is not about glorifying your past—it is about magnifying God’s work in your life and showing others that He can do the same for them.
Take time today to reflect on your own testimony. How has God changed your life? Where would you be without His grace? Then, pray for opportunities to share your story with someone this week. Whether through a conversation, social media, or a written testimony, let your words point others to the hope found in Christ. Someone needs to hear how Jesus has changed your life—will you be faithful to share it?
