There is no greater joy than seeing a soul come to Christ. When a lost sinner repents and places their faith in Jesus, all of heaven rejoices. Luke 15:7 declares, “I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.” This verse reminds us that salvation is a cause for great celebration—not only for the one who is saved but for all who have prayed, witnessed, and labored for their redemption. It is easy to become discouraged in evangelism, especially when we don’t always see immediate results, but when we witness the power of God transforming a life, it makes every effort, every prayer, and every moment spent sharing the gospel worth it.
The joy of soul-winning is not limited to heaven—it is a blessing experienced here on earth as well. When we take part in sharing the gospel, we are not only being obedient to the Great Commission, but we are also engaging in one of the most rewarding works of the Christian life. Psalm 126:6 paints a beautiful picture of the joy of seeing souls saved: “He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” The work of evangelism often involves tears—tears of burden for the lost, tears of intercessory prayer, and even tears of perseverance through rejection. But God promises that those who faithfully sow the seeds of the gospel will return with joy, bringing in the harvest.
What makes the joy of leading someone to Christ so special? It is the privilege of watching God’s grace at work firsthand. Seeing the light of salvation dawn in someone’s heart, witnessing their understanding of the gospel take root, and rejoicing as they pass from death unto life is an experience unlike any other. Paul described his joy in seeing those he had led to Christ grow in their faith in 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20: “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? For ye are our glory and joy.” Soul-winning is not just about duty—it is about the deep, abiding joy that comes from being used by God to bring others into His kingdom.
This week, pray for opportunities to share the gospel and experience the joy of seeing God’s work in the lives of others. Ask the Lord to give you boldness, compassion, and open doors to witness. If you’ve never had the privilege of leading someone to Christ, pray that He would allow you to experience that joy. And if you have, let it fuel your passion to continue reaching souls. Heaven rejoices when one sinner repents—may we be faithful in giving the world every opportunity to experience the life-changing power of Jesus Christ.
