The world is ripe for the gospel, and the need for laborers has never been greater. Jesus Himself declared in Matthew 9:37-38, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” Every day, countless souls step into eternity without Christ, and the fields of the world are ready for workers who will bring them the message of salvation. Missions is not just about recognizing the need—it is about answering the call to go into the harvest, whether by physically going, prayerfully supporting, or faithfully giving. The work is abundant, but there are too few who are willing to labor.

The harvest requires faithful workers who will diligently sow, water, and cultivate the fields, even when the task seems overwhelming. It can be discouraging to witness in a world that often seems indifferent or resistant to the gospel. Yet, 1 Corinthians 3:6 reminds us, “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” Our responsibility is to be obedient in sharing the truth, trusting God with the results. Some may plant seeds of faith, others may nurture and encourage those growing in Christ, but ultimately, it is God who brings the harvest. No effort for His kingdom is ever wasted.

There are places in the world where people are spiritually hungry, eagerly searching for truth. There are also places where hearts seem hardened, where missionaries labor for years with little visible fruit. Yet Jesus never told us to measure our effectiveness by numbers—He told us to be faithful. Galatians 6:9 encourages us, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” The harvest belongs to the Lord, and He will bring it forth in His time. Our task is to go, to speak, to pray, and to trust.

This week, pray for laborers to be raised up for the harvest. Ask God to send missionaries to the places where the gospel has not yet taken root. Pray for churches to be stirred with a passion for evangelism, for believers to be emboldened to share their faith, and for the lost to have open hearts. Most importantly, ask God to give you a heart of willingness to join the work. Whether in your own neighborhood or across the globe, there is a harvest waiting. Will you answer the call?
