The work of missions is not just about changing lives temporarily—it is about transforming souls for eternity. Every person who hears and responds to the gospel is forever changed, secured in the promise of eternal life with Christ. Revelation 7:9 gives us a breathtaking glimpse of the outcome of missions: “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands.” Missions is not about building earthly influence or temporary success—it is about populating heaven with redeemed souls from every nation, tribe, and language. Every effort in missions, whether big or small, contributes to this eternal purpose.

The eternal impact of missions should encourage us to keep pressing forward, even when the work seems slow or difficult. We may not always see the results of our labor, but God promises that our efforts are not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58 reminds us, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” Whether we are sharing the gospel, supporting missionaries, or faithfully praying for the lost, God is using our obedience to accomplish His kingdom work. Even when we face rejection or discouragement, we can trust that His Word will not return void (Isaiah 55:11).

The reality of eternity should also give us a renewed sense of urgency. Missions is not simply a noble cause—it is a race against time. Every day, thousands of people enter eternity, and for many, it is without Christ. The harvest is great, and the laborers are few (Matthew 9:37-38), but each person we reach adds to the chorus of worshippers who will one day stand before the throne of God. What a joy it will be to one day see people in heaven who came to Christ because of the prayers we prayed, the resources we gave, or the gospel we shared. Missions is not just about today—it is about preparing souls for eternity.

Today, take a moment to thank God for the privilege of being part of His mission. Pray for those who are on the frontlines of spreading the gospel, whether near or far. Ask the Lord to use you in a greater way for His kingdom, knowing that every act of faithfulness contributes to an eternal harvest. One day, when we stand before Christ, may we rejoice in knowing that we played a part in bringing others to Him. What greater impact could there be than that?
