God’s love is not limited to a single people group, nation, or culture—it extends to every tribe, tongue, and nation. From the very beginning, His desire has been to redeem people from all over the world. John 3:16 declares, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” The gospel is not exclusive to any one race or background; it is an open invitation to all who will believe. Missions is about carrying that message of love and salvation to the farthest corners of the earth, ensuring that every soul has the opportunity to hear and respond to the good news of Jesus Christ.
When we think about the nations, it is easy to become overwhelmed by the sheer number of unreached people in the world. Yet, Scripture gives us a glimpse of the glorious future that awaits. Revelation 7:9 paints a breathtaking picture of eternity: “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands.” This vision reminds us that missions is not just a command to be obeyed—it is the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. One day, people from every nation will stand together in worship before the throne of God. Every missionary, every evangelistic effort, and every act of obedience in sharing the gospel contributes to this divine mission.
But missions is not just about statistics or distant lands—it is about having God’s heart for people. Jesus wept over Jerusalem because His heart longed for the lost to turn to Him (Luke 19:41). Do we have that same burden? Do our hearts break for those who have never heard the name of Jesus? The nations are not just across the ocean; they are in our own communities. With the movement of people around the world, God has brought the mission field to our doorstep. Refugees, international students, and immigrant families live among us, many of whom have never heard the gospel. What are we doing to reach them?
Today, take time to pray for missionaries serving in foreign fields, that God would strengthen and provide for them. Ask the Lord to give you a heart for the nations—not just in a general sense, but a deep, personal burden to see His name glorified among all peoples. Perhaps God is calling you to be more involved in missions, whether by going, giving, or interceding in prayer. Whatever role He has for you, embrace it with passion. The world is waiting to hear the gospel—will you be part of taking it to them?
