Walking daily with God requires a humble heart. Humility is essential because it keeps us dependent on Him, recognizing that every step we take is guided by His grace and strength. Micah 6:8 calls us to “do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.” When we walk humbly with God, we acknowledge that we are not in control, but He is—and that is where true peace and wisdom are found.
Humility begins with understanding who God is and who we are in relation to Him. James 4:10 reminds us, “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” As we meditate on God’s greatness, His holiness, and His love, we are reminded of our dependence on Him. Humility is not about thinking less of ourselves but about thinking rightly of God and submitting to His authority in our lives.
Walking in humility also affects how we interact with others. Philippians 2:3-4 instructs us, “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” Humility allows us to serve others selflessly, reflecting the heart of Christ. This week, ask God to help you walk in humility, depending on Him for every step and seeking to serve others as He leads.
