As we celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas, we are reminded not only of His first coming but also of the promise of His return. The same God who kept His Word by sending His Son to be born in Bethlehem will also fulfill His promise to send Him again. Just as the prophets foretold His first coming with remarkable accuracy, the Scriptures are clear that Jesus will one day return as King of kings and Lord of lords.
The Christmas story is filled with fulfilled prophecies. From His birth in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2) to His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14) and the announcement to shepherds (Luke 2:8-11), God proved that His Word is trustworthy and true. These fulfilled prophecies give us confidence that His promises about Christ’s second coming will also be fulfilled. Jesus Himself declared in John 14:3, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
Christmas is not just a celebration of what has already happened—it’s a reminder of what is yet to come. The first time Jesus came, He came in humility, born in a stable and laid in a manger. When He comes again, He will come in glory, with every knee bowing and every tongue confessing that He is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11). His first coming was to bring salvation; His second coming will be to bring judgment and establish His eternal kingdom.
The message of Christmas is also a call to readiness. Just as the world was largely unprepared for His first coming, we must not be caught off guard when He comes again. Jesus warned in Matthew 24:44, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” This Christmas, let the story of His birth stir your heart to live in anticipation of His return.
As we celebrate the miracle of the manger, let us also prepare our hearts for the majesty of His second coming. Trust in His promises, live faithfully for Him, and share the good news of salvation with others. Just as He came the first time, He will come again—and this time, He will make all things new. Merry Christmas!
