As Christmas fades into cherished memories, our attention naturally turns to the coming new year. The transition from one year to the next is more than just turning a calendar page; it’s an opportunity to reflect, reset, and prepare for what God has in store. Psalm 90:12 reminds us, “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” As we prepare for the year ahead, let’s seek God’s wisdom and align our hearts with His purposes.
Preparing for the new year begins with reflection. Take time to look back over the past year and consider God’s faithfulness. How has He provided, guided, and carried you through challenges? Gratitude for His work in the past fuels faith for the future. But preparation also means acknowledging areas where growth is needed. Are there habits, attitudes, or distractions that hindered your walk with God in 2024? This is the perfect time to surrender them to Him and ask for His help in making a fresh start.
As you plan for 2025, consider the priorities God has placed on your heart. Maybe it’s deepening your relationship with Him through prayer and Bible study, serving in new ways, or sharing the gospel with someone in your life. Proverbs 16:3 encourages us, “Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.” When we give our plans to God, He directs our steps and equips us to accomplish His will.
The new year is a gift—a blank slate filled with potential to walk closer with God and make an eternal impact. As we prepare for 2025, let’s do so with hearts fully surrendered to Him, trusting in His grace for every challenge and opportunity that lies ahead. This week, take time to pray, seek His guidance, and commit your plans to the Lord. With Him, the best is yet to come!
