True love requires humility, and humility is at the heart of every healthy relationship. Philippians 2:3-4 challenges us, “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” Humility allows us to set aside selfishness and serve others in love.
Christ is our ultimate example of humility in relationships. He humbled Himself to serve His disciples, washing their feet (John 13:12-15), and ultimately gave His life for us on the cross. When we approach our relationships with the same humility, we create space for love to flourish and for God to work through us.
This week, ask God to help you practice humility in your relationships. Look for opportunities to serve others, listen more, and put their needs above your own. As you do, you’ll reflect Christ’s love in powerful ways.
