Forgiveness is essential to building and maintaining healthy relationships. Without it, resentment and bitterness take root, damaging the bond between people. Ephesians 4:32 reminds us, “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Forgiveness doesn’t erase the past, but it sets us free from the burden of anger and allows relationships to heal.
Forgiveness reflects the heart of the gospel. Just as God has forgiven us of our sins through Christ, we are called to extend that same forgiveness to others. Matthew 6:14-15 warns us, “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Forgiveness is not optional—it’s a command, and it’s one of the most powerful ways we demonstrate God’s love.
Today, consider if there’s someone you need to forgive or ask forgiveness from. Pray for God to soften your heart and give you the strength to take that step. Forgiveness is the door to restored relationships and renewed peace.
