As we stand on the edge of a new year, today is a time to reflect on how we finish the one that is ending. The Apostle Paul’s words in 2 Timothy 4:7 inspire us: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” As we close out 2024, let us ask ourselves: Have we fought the good fight? Have we stayed faithful in our walk with God? Have we lived for His glory? Finishing well means taking stock of where we’ve been, celebrating God’s victories, and learning from the lessons He has taught us.

The final day of the year is a moment to surrender everything to God—the successes and the struggles, the joys and the sorrows. Philippians 3:13-14 reminds us, “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” As we leave 2024 behind, let’s choose to release the burdens and mistakes of the past, trusting God’s grace to carry us into the future with renewed purpose and hope.

Finishing well also means setting our hearts on the promises of God for the year to come. As the clock strikes midnight and we enter 2025, we step forward into the unknown—but not alone. Deuteronomy 31:8 assures us, “And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” We can face the new year with confidence, knowing that God’s presence and faithfulness will guide us every step of the way.

Take time today to pray, reflect, and give thanks. Celebrate how far God has brought you and commit the new year into His hands. As we turn the page to 2025, let’s do so with hearts full of faith, resolve to walk closely with God, and a desire to live out His purpose in the year ahead. Let’s finish this year well, and enter the next with renewed hope and devotion. Happy New Year!
